Eleanor & Park Book Review

eleanor-and-park

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my thoughts on this epic love story! I finished it last week but needed some time to really gather my thoughts.

First, what’s it about?

“Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.
Eleanor
… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.
Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.”

e-and-pThis is the first book I’ve read by Rainbow Rowell and I love the flow of her writing. The story is narrated by both Eleanor and Park and it is done beautifully. It took me four days to finish, sooner if I didn’t have to feed and care for my little humans. I absolutely love the dynamic within the story. This book is life changing, yes. While these two find themselves gravitating closer, your heart is doing the same. I was so invested in this story and where I wanted the characters to end. Some of the details within the story are so heartbreaking. This wasn’t a tear-jerker for me but the anxiety levels were rising for sure! I remembered what it felt like to be a teenager and all the excitement that comes with falling in love, or perhaps something like it :).

Rainbow Rowell completely took my emotions and bound me to this book, until the end. Oh, the ending…. I don’t want to spoil the story but my goodness, WHY?

Reading reviews from other readers, there are many who feel the same about how this love story ends. So for that, I am giving this book 4.5/5 stars.

Let me know if you have read this book what your thoughts are!

Happy reading!
